Recreational Chocolates Fit for Starbucks

The Brief

"We have cracked the code on developing a great tasting chocolate recipe at an affordable price and now we are looking for a partner to create a brand that will introduce our chocolates to a wide audience." 

The Work

When we think about breakthrough design, we draw a lot of inspiration from adjacent categories. We ask ourselves, "what are other category cues we can pull into this brand that will help ground the proposition?" In this case, we started with coffee house chocolates, challenging ourselves to design a brand that would visually fit in on a Starbucks Coffee counter.

After reviewing a few different design spaces with the client we landed on the name "Mellow Maker." This name represented an approachable, reliable chocolate brand that will take the edge off without veering too far out of your comfort zone. Visually" and "bold color-blocking to make it leap off the shelf. We then balanced the packaging with minimalist black and white on the other half. 

The result is a beautifully distinct, eye-catching brand that is ripe for brand extensions.  We went on to deliver a gummie line and are currently designing even more extensions for this brand.
